  • The staff of Angels of Mercy Medical Center are still recovering after a shooting that took place at the hospital, severely injuring Detective Jerry Boyle, Dr. Gina Freeman’s fiance.  The hitman was after ER physician Lydia Fiore, who escaped with minor injuries.  Fiore holds secrets that someone is attempting to bury. The hitman escaped.

It’s New Year’s Eve & a severe blizzard has cut the hospital off from the outside world.  When a DEA agent appears, looking for Fiore, some of the staff realize something is amiss.  While they attempt to verify the agent’s identity, the hotel loses power & contact with the outside world.  The “agent” turns out to be another hitman out to kill Fiore. Unknown to the hitman, Fiore isn’t in the hospital; she’s stranded out in the snow.

The lives of hundreds of patients & doctors are at risk.  The hitman has no problem with taking extra victims in the course of his “mission.”  It is unknown just how many of the Angels of Mercy staff will make it into the new year…

The final book in the Angels of Mercy series, Critical Condition serves as the perfect conclusion to such a wonderful series.  Through the series, the main characters have grown & developed tremendously.  We follow them through their medical career, experiencing their triumphs and troubles alongside them.  This series has been a favorite of mine for years; while I enjoyed this book I was sad to see the series in.  I literally put off reading it til the last minute, just to postpone the inevitable.

As I mentioned in my review of the first book in the series, Lifelines, this series is perfect for fans of medical thrillers/drama.  The storyline is fast-paced & exciting, the characters are compelling.  You won’t go wrong with this series, I promise!

Stay tuned! Tomorrow I’m excited to have the author, CJ Lyons, as a guest on this blog!
