In Which My Son Battles Lord Vader..

This past Saturday, my boys pulled out their Star Wars costumes and dressed up to attend the release party of LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary at one our local Borders. My oldest son dressed as a Storm Trooper and my youngest was a Jedi.

The party was fabulous! We only stayed for about an hour, but the boys had a blast nonetheless.  There was a LEGO Star Wars trivia game, and picture opportunities with Storm Troopers, a TIE fighter pilot, and Darth Vader himself.

Well, both of my boys decided to challenge Vader to a battle.  My oldest son’s battle is pictured below.

Unfortunately, due to the crowd, I was unable to get a picture of my youngest son’s duel.  I can say he had an unfair advantage.  Due to his height, he was able to aim a little low!

There were a few professional photographers at the event. Pictures of my boys fighting Vader should be posted on a Lego blog in the near future.  As soon as I track it down, I will be sure to post those as well!

Needless to say,we had a blast!  Thanks to Borders and DK Books for this great event!

*Edit: I found the Lego blog post and found another picture of my son fighting Darth Vader!

How fun! My coworker’s son was playing with Lego’s this afternoon…because their power went out. So let’s hear it for Lego’s…no electricity needed!

Legos are excellent! My oldest is obsessed with them. He doesn’t need to look at the instructions when putting sets together. It shocks me! I bought our youngest his first “real” Lego set. It’s not exactly assembled yet.

I enjoy Star Wars as well. My boys and I were all born in years Star Wars movies were released, so we have a bit of a connection!

What a star, and quite a valiant competitor. Lord Vader didn’t have a chance!

Aw! Thanks! I try to plan fun activities that get them out of the house. Plus it gave me the excuse to go to the bookstore :)

How fun! I imagine the boys (and you) had a great time, and were grinning ear-to-ear.

Seeing some of those costumes, I wonder: was there another group of terrified crying kids?

    Jenn Reply:

We did have a great time!

Actually, none of the kids were scared! They were all pretty mesmerized!

Awesome! MY son (19 months) is going as Yoda which has inspired the two adults to go starwars themed, too. My Leia costume is ready…now just to convince my husband to go as Han Solo…
