Yes, you read it right. I was injured by a book. I got up this morning and went to look out the window. It’s pretty cold here and we’re expecting snow, so I wanted to see if we’d gotten any overnight. I was walking back through my room and saw that my three year old, Justin, was awake and standing in the hallway. I started to walk toward him to tell him that he didn’t have to get up yet (it was barely 7 am!) and that’s when it happened. One of his books was on the floor and I slid on it and fell. Fractured my first two toes. I’ve been ordered by the ER docs to keep it elevated, don’t walk on it, and ice it. I’ve been given some pretty hefty pain meds, too, which prevent me from driving. So much for my weekend shopping plans.
Instead I’ll spend it in bed, ankle propped up on pillows, catching up on the shows I’ve Tivo-ed, the two LOST DVDs I got from Netflix, and a few books!

Oh my gosh! That’s awful.
Oh no! That’s really crappy.
Ouch! That’s quite an injury! Hopefully you will be able to be up and around soon, although I know it will take a while for the toes to heal.
Jenn…that is just rotten. Hope you find some time to read in your injured state…Not sure how a busy mom is able to stay down…good luck and don’t push it.
Jenn, that’s so crappy. Hopefully though if you’re not sleeping from pain meds you can get some reading done.
That is horrible…especially just before Christmas! Well I guess you will just have to be forced to enjoy some ‘Me’ time!
Awww…I hope you get better soon!
Ouch! I’ve broken my toes several times (Coordinated I am not) and it’s never a fun thing. Hope you’re feeling better soon — in the meantime, put your feet up and enjoy some quality reading time.
Oh no!! I hope you get to feeling better soon.
{HUGS} At least the meds are good ones. And there is always the internet for shopping.
strong pain meds can be a bane and a benefit. trust me I know. If you want to email me offline go for it, I would hate for you to have the problem I have right now.
oops!!! Hope you feel better soon.
LOL, sorry to laugh, but this was hilarious! I stubbed my toe on a brick outside last summer and not only did I sprain the toe but lost the toenail! Not fun…hope you recover soon!
My daughter leaves her books around and I’m always afraid something like this will happen. Ouch! I hope you’re better soon.
I can see it now… warning labels on books! “Caution: do not step on book when concentrating on something else.”
Sorry, just kidding. Hope you are not in too much pain!
Bet you felt like hurling said book in the dumpster. Hope you can get back to wearing normal shoes soon!
Ouch! That is one of the most unusual injuries I’ve heard of!
I hope you’re on the mend soon and that you can use this as an excuse to sit and read instead of running errands!
