    Merry Chrismas, Everyone!

Ok, this post is a little late but I wanted to be sure to wish all my blogger friends a Merry Christmas! I’m in FL visiting the in-laws. I had a wonderful Christmas. My awesome BIL gave me a IBM Thinkpad…so I’m back!! I brought a ton of books with me to read and review but so far I’ve only read one! Well, next week I’m only working two days so I hope to catch up!

Now that I’m back, expect some new posts, reviews, and contests in the near future!!

    My Computer Died :(

So I got home from work last night. Went to turn on my laptop and it failed to start. Thought it might be the power cord I was using, so I tried another. Nothing. Contacted Dell, and the motherboard is fried. Wouldn’t make sense to repair it. I’ve only had the computer for a year, but unfortunately the warranty expired in October. So, until I can afford to purchase a new one, I’ll have to attempt to share computer time with my husband :( . Well..my husband was concerned that he didn’t know what to get me for Christmas. Now he has a great (albeit expensive) gift idea.

So, I’ll post when I can. We’re traveling for the holidays, my first experience traveling without my laptop. I’m certain I’ll feel as though I’m missing a limb.

Injured by a Book, Part Two

So, I went to see an orthopedist today. I was in more pain than I thought I should be. He ordered new X-rays. So, not only did I strain my ankle, break a few toes, but apparently I have stress fractures all throughout my foot and ankle. Nice, eh? I’ve been attempting to walk on this ankle all week. Afterall, the ER doc stated that he strain/sprain in my ankle was very minor, and I was told that I could put weight on it. Not so much! So, now I’m forced to wear an air/walking cast (AKA DAS BOOT!)for at least ten days. After that, I have to wear a special ankle brace. When I’m allowed to wear a shoe again, I’ve been “prescribed” these hideous clog-looking shoes.

Those who know me well know how much I love shoes. I have quite an addiction. All of my shoes are in clear plastic, labeled shoe boxes. All of those shoes will be collecting dust for a few months :( .

Ok..so the book part of this post! I’ve been reading, but due to the pain meds I’ve been on I haven’t been able to write my reviews. I’m off the meds now and hope to be able to write again tonight and tomorrow!

Also, you still have time to enter my awesome audio book contest! I’ll announce the winner tomorrow!

    Injured by a Book

Yes, you read it right. I was injured by a book. I got up this morning and went to look out the window. It’s pretty cold here and we’re expecting snow, so I wanted to see if we’d gotten any overnight. I was walking back through my room and saw that my three year old, Justin, was awake and standing in the hallway. I started to walk toward him to tell him that he didn’t have to get up yet (it was barely 7 am!) and that’s when it happened. One of his books was on the floor and I slid on it and fell. Fractured my first two toes. I’ve been ordered by the ER docs to keep it elevated, don’t walk on it, and ice it. I’ve been given some pretty hefty pain meds, too, which prevent me from driving. So much for my weekend shopping plans.

Instead I’ll spend it in bed, ankle propped up on pillows, catching up on the shows I’ve Tivo-ed, the two LOST DVDs I got from Netflix, and a few books!

Review and Giveaway: Blood Island by H. Terrell Griffin

Matt Royal is a lawyer in FL who always seems to get into trouble of some sort. His ex-wife, Laura, contacts him. Her stepdaughter, Peggy, is missing and she needs his help to track her down. Since she’s a legal adult, the police don’t seem concerned. Matt tracks Peggy down to a private island in the Keys, Blood Island. The island, and a number of “questionable” businesses in the area, are all owned by the same Bahamian corporation. Matt soon discovers a hidden world of at-risk teens, drugs, cults, and prostitution. Just as Matt saves Peggy, he uncovers a terrorist plan to destroy several churches in large cities. BLOOD ISLAND is action packed from page one and keeps you hooked til the end. This is my first taste of Griffin’s work and I hope to read more of his work in the near future!
