So I just went back and looked at the list of books I read this year, so far. Sadly, nothing screams at me “favorite book this year!” or “best thing I’ve read in ages!”. I read/listened to some decent stuff, but nothing to this level. Maybe Liar Temptress Soldier Spy could be a contender, because it’s really quite fascinating, I learned a lot, and I’m recommending left and right. But I could also say the last audiobook I finished, Crazy Rich Asians, because it made me laugh and I thoroughly enjoyed the escapism it gave me, listening to it right after a particularly emotionally trying month. But it was fluff, just really fun fluff. Or, I could say I’m most thankful for my TBR pile. Because I have some potentially really good stuff in it. Fluff, serious, educational, the whole spectrum of good reading. Maybe this last month of reading will give me a winner. Or maybe 2016 will have a more well-defined contender. :)

A little late, so I am commenting (is that a word?!) instead of posting…

I have come to realize that I am a bit…superstisious. For example, I decided shortly after spending hundreds of dollars on a class ring, that it brought bad luck. Senior year I decided I was being silly, so I put it on – and my prom date cancelled! I promptly took it off, bagged and hid it. My date called and told me he could go after all.

So, after having a tough year work wise…I returned to a book that had brought me good luck and success in the past – the Harry Potter series. Shortly after I landed a great new position. Coincidence, perhaps. But even if it is, reading this lovely series still takes my stress away and makes me smile!
