The Big Game’s On Read-a-thon: Half-Time

Half-time has come & gone and so it is time to reminisce on what you’ve read so far today.  How has your reading gone so far?  What snacks have you partaken in? Are you catching any of the commercials? Any favorites?

I’ve finished one book (In Need of a Good Wife) & I’m on to my second (Circles of Time). It’s quite a chunkster so I doubt I’ll get through it today. I’m really enjoying the food, the virtual company of other participants, and the reading of course!

While there won’t be any official posts until the wrap-up tomorrow, keep us updated on your progress in the comments below or, if you are on Twitter, use the hashtag #superbowlreadathon!

Game on!

  1. My chili was great, but I bought so many bad-Mel foods (chocolate bing cherries, ginger snaps, scones) at Trader Joe’s this morning that I barely had room for it.

Reading-wise, I’ve set HHhH aside for a while & am working on Midnight Scandals, which is going a lot faster.

I like the Century 21 / wedding ad I just saw, and the VW ones, but the other car ones and the beer ones have been pretty boring!

  2. I’ve read,a,bit but distractions amuck!! I haven’t read IN NEED OF A GOOD WIFE YET ,BUT I HAVE IT….ALONG WITH SO MUCH MORE.

  3. I have had a relaxing day reading some – resting some – crafting just a litle –

The book I’m reading – Secret Life of Bees – pg. 37 now – is striking me as sad now – I feel for the little girl who lost her mom – is mistreated – she really doesn’t realize her worth – yet – but I know this is gonna get good and I think it will be a book I remember for a long time!

  4. My reading has been sooooo weak today!! I’m going to be heading to bed early though and finally diving into my book at least for a bit! Where did the time go?!?

  5. Didn’t read at all during the game itself, because friends were over for Downton Abbey and we played board games. But sure got my reading time all day! I read 20 UNDER 40: STORIES FROM THE NEW YORKER and Seamus Heaney’s THE HAW LANTERN. Also read bits of THE PARIS REVIEW INTERVIEWS VOL II.

  6. I got halfway through Sabriel and I love it! I didn’t snack very much today but I did end having some pizza for dinner and I didn’t watch any of the superbowl as my husband and I were watching some of our favorite tv shows.
