TSS: Spend Superbowl Sunday Curled Up With a Good Book!

It’s not rare for me to come up with excuses reasons to spend obscene  amounts of time reading.  With Superbowl Sunday just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to curl up with a good book, or two.  I’m not a huge fan of football, and while I love the commercials & the food, I’d rather be reading!

Then, while talking on Twitter, other book bloggers  indicated an interest in participating! A read-a-thon was born!  Thanks to Florinda, we now have a fantastic name:
The details:

  • No rules, no guidelines, just read
  • No start/end times, just read at your leisure.
  • Mini-challenges will be created to break up your reading time. Participating in these challenges is not mandatory, but you will be eligible for a number of great prizes!

To sign up, please fill out the Mr. Linky below.  On Sunday, when you start the read-a-thon, create a start-up post & link it to the Mr. Linky I will post here on Sunday morning.

  1. Wow, I’m the first to sign up! Haven’t been following the Twitter convo as I’ve been reading, but was excited to see your post pop up in my reader. Of course, I’m going to “watch” the game by listening, but I’d much rather be reading. So glad you came up with this excuse, er reason!

  3. Doesn’t everybody read while watching TV? I’ve been doing that since junior high. Even though reading on Superbowl Sunday won’t be a stretch for me, I’m signing up anyway.

    p.s. I live in Wisconsin.

Count me in! Love to read and watch…most likely I’ll only watch the commercials depending which way the game goes. And I’m always up for a reason to read! : )

  5. I will probably watch the commercials but read while the actual game is on! haha. I am not much of a football fan, and I really only watch the Superbowl when the Colts are playing (I’m from the Indianapolis area). I can’t wait to curl up with a good book!

  6. I’m excited about having a plan for Superbowl Sunday! I will probably watch some of the game, but I’m always glad for an “excuse” to spend hours & hours reading!

No participating for me! I’ll be cheering on my team (the Packers) while hubby cheers on his team (the Steelers) and we both trade smack talk for the duration of the game. This will be one game I will NOT have a book nearby to help while away the time.

I’m so not a fan of the game of football but I’m forced to watch it at least on that day as my husband (school coach) is a big fan. But at least I’ll something fun to do – read-a-thon! THANKS!

I think this is a great idea, but one I’ll have to pass on, as I love football and will be watching the game. Go Green Bay! :)

  10. I normally read during commercials but the Superbowl is one time where I actually watch the commercials – haha

No SuperBowl here, but the idea of a Readathon is great so I’m joining in, too! Should be fun :)

Alas i have plans to attend a Super Bowl party munching on wings and pizza and guzzling beer.

I’ll read during the halftime show and check in.

This sounds like fun! I had planned on reading during the game, like I always do, and now I will have company. Thanks for hosting.

  17. Kate says:

Sigh….I wish I could spend the day curled up with a book. But, once the kids go down and the hubby is tuned into the pigskin I will join the rest of you. Go Team!!

  18. Buffy says:

I’m hoping to be able to do this — a nice way to spend my Sunday before my daughter comes back from her dad’s. And she’s such a reader that we’ll probably keep reading then. :)

  19. Molly says:

What a great idea! I know I won’t be watching the game – but not sure what I will be doing. I will stop by and sign up if reading is in my superbowl future.

I wish you all a lot of fun!

Looking forward to having an excuse to read! FUN!

  22. Ashley says:

I doubt I’ll read the whole day (prior obligations in the morning, and I’ve got to support my b-i-l, the Steelers are his team (like, hard core) and we are all heading over for a party.) I imagine I’ll zone in and out of the game, and try to get at least two, maybe three of these books read that are sitting here, judging me for not getting to them sooner. :)
