I’m pausing for breath after finishing “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle” by Haruki Murakami. I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but after I’ve read a truly amazing book, I have to have a little refractory period afterwards, for fear of whatever I read next seeming like damp cardboard afterwards. TWUBC is still haunting me…

Have a wonderful time with THE SENTRY. The villain in that is one of my all-time favorites…if not my all time favorite.
I just started THE WEIGHT by Andrew Vachss on audio and THE DEATH INSTINCT by Jed Rubenfeld in print.
I loved Major Pettigrew. I hope you enjoyed it.

You had a good reading week Jen…. I am checking out these books now
Oooh, you’re in for such a treat with YOU KNOW WHEN THE MEN ARE GONE. That is definitely one to savor. I made myself go read something else between each story just to make it last longer, and I still ended up finishing in the span of a single day.
Right now I’m reading INVENTING GEORGE WASHINGTON by Edward Lengel and THE QUEEN OF LAST HOPES by Susan Higginbotham. Later this week I plan to start UNDER THE MERCY TREES by Heather Newton on my Nook, along with AMERICAN UPRISING by Daniel Radmussen and THE EYRE AFFAIR in print. I’m still listening to ATLANTIC by Simon Winchester in audio and probably will be at least for the rest of the week.

I am so jealous that you read Major Pettigrew. I keep trying to get to that one. Maybe if I didn’t have to read The Poison Tree for somebody.

Great reading list! I’m going to take a look at some of these.
I have heard so much good stuff about Vera Dietz! Add it to my ever-growing list!
I just finished the whole Betsy-Tacy series, I think I did the last 4 of them last week. I also read two Jennie Lindquist books, Golden Name Day and The Little Silver House. I’m taking a bit of a break from all the children’s books next, so I’ve started The Weed that Strings the Hangman’s Bag and hopefully will get to The Ladies of Grace Adieu before it’s due back. Sometimes I find a library deadline is exactly the kick in the pants I need to get around to a certain book.
