It’s Monday! What Are You Reading This Week?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading This Week? This is a weekly event to list the books completed last week, the books currently being reading, and the books to be finish this week. It was created by J.Kaye’s Book Blog, but is now being hosted by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through a World of  Books so stop by and join in!

Books Completed Last Week

My reading list from last week was pretty pitiful.  My oldest son had the flu, leaving me absolutely no time to read.  This weekend was a busy one for us as well.  I’m looking forward to doing nothing but Thankfully Reading next weekend!

Dreamfever: The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

Currently Reading

The Historian: A Novel by Elizabeth Kostova (audio)
Bury Your Dead (Three Pines Mysteries) by Louise Penny

Books to Complete This Week

I fully anticipate adding several more books to this list, but for now..

Disciple of the Dog by R. Scott Bakker

I’m finishing up THE SILENCED by Brett Battles, which will come out early next year. It’s the next book in his Jonathan Quinn series. And I’m also finishing up CONCOURSE on audio. I’ll start BLUE GENES by Val McDermid on audio next and THE SENTRY (woo hoo!) by Robert Crais in print.

  2. I’m really looking forward to Thankfully Reading right now too, because last week felt really slow, even if I did have 2 books that I loved so much I read them in a single day.

Up this week: Finishing the three books I’m currently reading: THE SHERLOCKIAN by Graham Moore, ANIMAL, VEGETABLE, MIRACLE by Barbara Kingsolver, and THE FIDDLER’S GUN by A. S. Peterson.

Besides those I need to read VOLTAIRE’S CALLIGRAPHER by Pablo de Santis and THE FRONTIERSMAN’S DAUGHTER.

I’m not sure if I’ll start a new audiobook after finishing the one I’m listening to because I’m not sure how much time I’ll have to listen this weekend. It may be podcasts for me over the holidays.

  3. What do you think of The Historian? Everyone has been telling me to read it (because I am a historian IRL) but always with this slightly weird tone that makes me wonder if I’ll like it. The idea of listiening to the audio is appealing.

I am reading Calvino’s book on the classics and looking forward to starting Dirda’s memoir of growing up as a reader. I can’t wait to be Thankfully Reading.

  4. I think this time of year is tough for reading. I’m reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.

  5. I’m reading Darkfever right now, and I’m really liking it so far. I wanted to start at the beginning of the series.
