Reading this week: The Orange Eats Creeps, in preparation for an interview with the author later this week, Half Broke Horses, for my book club, and Reality Bites Back, in preparation for a review. — Margaret Brown, publisher, Shelf Unbound: what to read next in independent publishing, http://www.shelfmedagroup.com

Well, a combination of the book’s length and my busy-ness getting ready for Bouchercon has me still reading R.J. Ellory’s A SIMPLE ACT OF VIOLENCE, but it’s outstanding. I’m kind of glad I’m reading this one slow. There’s so much to absorb.
I did finish Kathy Reichs’ DEVIL BONES on audio as well as Stewart O’Nan’s SONGS FOR THE MISSING. If it hadn’t been for the fact that I somehow managed to erase all the audiobooks off my iTouch, I would have started S.J. Rozan’s CONCOURSE today. Gotta figure out what the heck I did when I get home today.

Ooh, I can’t wait to hear what you think of THE VAULTS.
Right now I’m reading DIVINE APPOINTMENTS and listening to YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE ANYONE I KNOW. I also want to finish Luis Alberto Urrea’s graphic novel MR. MENDOZA’S PAINTBRUSH, plus Marilyn Brandt’s FRIDAY MORNINGS AT NINE and Tony Romano’s memoir IF YOU EAT YOU NEVER DIE. My next audio will be either CROOKED LETTER or DJIBOUTI, depending on whether or not I get DJIBOUTI before I finish YOU DON’T LOOK LIKE ANYONE I KNOW.

Look at at the spooky tales you’ve been reading! I loved House of Dead Maids… I need to get some Halloween books to read soon! Have a great reading week!
Nice list of books you completed last week. I love Powell’s Bookstore and will hopefully get to drop by there this week as I’m also looking for a spooky tale to put me in the Halloween spirit.
This week I’m reading an interesting book my girlfriend recommended called “Rain Dance” by author Joy DeKok. It’s an interesting book about two women that form a friendship as they are each dealing with a life changing event…one dealing with infertility and the other abortion. I can’t seem to put it down.
Kid vs Squid, Greg Van Eekhout; Forest of Hands and Teeth, Carrie Ryan.
