Review Requests and Policies
If you would like to send a book for review consideration or would like me to host a book giveaway, please read my review guidelines and complete the review request form below. You may also email me at jennsbookshelf@gmail.com.
Pitch Emails
I only respond to pitches when I plan to accept the title for review consideration. I typically reply within one week.
Books I Review
I review most fiction, with a particular fondness for:
- Suspense and thriller
- Horror
- Fantasy
- Romance
Books I Do Not Review
- Self‑help
Unsolicited Books
Because I receive a high volume of requests, I cannot guarantee reviews of unsolicited books.
Review Schedule
I do not review every book I read. Reviewing every title can take the joy out of reading, so I focus on the books that truly stand out. Depending on what I’m reading, this may mean several reviews in a week or only one review over two weeks. I do not hold myself to strict review requirements, and I prefer to enjoy books at my own pace.
Review Timeline
I usually post reviews during the month a book is published. To ensure this timing, books must be received at least one month before their publication date.
Honesty in Reviewing
I cannot promise a positive review, but all reviews are honest. I always disclose the source of review copies. Books provided by authors, publicists, or publishers are given to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review, and this does not influence my opinion.
Compensation
I do not receive payment for reviewing books.
Book Formats
I review both print and ebook formats.
What Happens to ARCs After Review
I do not sell ARCs. At times I host giveaways for them, and once the book has been published, I donate finished copies to local shelters.
