Erika, I'm so grateful for your enthusiasm behind this book! Thanks so much for all your support. :)

Julie, I couldn't agree with you more. It's been really eye-opening for me, already hearing people not only express how little they knew about the internment, but some who even admit they didn't know it happened at all. I believe the best remedy is to talk about it, and I hope my book helps in that regard--even if only in a small way.

Jenn, thank you for the lovely review! It meant even more to me knowing how you personally related to the aspect of an interracial relationship. I think there are many people out there who can understand what it's like to live between worlds. I'm so thrilled you loved the story!

What a great review, and on a subject that so many people don't know about. I find it horrid that schools don't teach about the internments; what we don't know we are bound to repeat. Imagine losing your homes, your jobs, your place in school, and only years after the fact, having your remaining family be compensated less than $30,000 .. such a paltry amount for the loss of livelihood and dignity.

Awesome! I have totally preordered this! I love a good dystopian/sci-fi series!
Also I read Helpless by Daniel Palmer that you recommended and it was fantastic. I read it all in an afternoon. So great!

I LOVED this book. I knew almost nothing about Japanese internment camps (shamefully.) The beauty of historical fiction is that the reader can truly internalize events of the past because of her emotional investment in the characters. Kristina's novel is a perfect example of this. Great review!

I have a copy of Partials and it sounds great. Glad to hear it is fast paced and the world building is well done. Your comment about romance in YA made me smile - it does make more sense when romance is on the backburner when lives are at stake!
