The 24 Hour Read-a-thon is a little over a week away and I’m ecstatic! I participated in April and had an absolutely wonderful time!
I learned a great deal during the last read-a-thon. Here are just a few of them:
- Choose your books carefully! Don’t choose a book with an overly heavy topic. I picked a pretty heavy book last year. It was very powerful, yet I couldn’t really get into the books that followed. It stuck with me and definitely hindered my “performance.”
- Don’t attempt to write reviews of all the books you’ve read. Your brain will go into a state of hibernation shortly after the completion of the read-a-thon. You will be unable to forumulate a review that makes any sort of sense.
So, without further ado, my planned reads for the Read-a-thon!

I have a good mixture of YA and Middle Grade Fiction. To switch things up a bit, I will be adding a few of the Sookie Stackhouse books in between. And I’m pretty certain I will add at least one or two spooky horror books to the pile!
So, will you be participating in the read-a-thon!? If so, what are you reading?

I’m lining up the Christmas books for the read-a-thon. This will be my first attempt, so trying to keep the books short, light and easy. Hubby and I are reading “Anatomy of a Murder” by Robert Traver (pub. 1959) as part of a challenge at the library, so will probably spend some time on that during the read-a-thon also. Look forward to hearing about your reads.
I hope you have a great time during the read-a-thon!
Good luck to you. I’m not participating but I think your mix of books will be successful.
I read Skeleton Creek this summer. It was a fun read and much creepier than I expected it to be! Make sure you read that one during daytime hours.

Oooh…but I love creepy reads. Reading them at night doesn’t bother me.
Awesome list of books! They look like tons of fun reads. I have been wanting to read Skeleton Creek for forever and Ghost in the Machine looks really good! Have fun! I would love to do this, maybe I can get lucky and squeeze in a couple of hours!

I’m not certain that I’ll be able to read the full 24 hours. We’ll see how much my youngest cooperates. My hubby has been warned
I’ve still got to pick my books. I want light and easy I think, at the very least books that will really keep my enthralled enough to keep me going. Are you thinking you’ll get through all those books? Because I think I’ll be lucky to get through two! LOL
Good luck

Oh no, I won’t get through all of them. I think I read five books last round. Some of them were pretty heavy, so I’m hoping to up it to maybe six or seven.
But the reviews that don’t make any sense are the best of all!
Good luck!

Loved Life As We Knew It…that’s a perfect choice!!!! Though you may need some time to recover once you finish it!
Good luck Jenn!

Looks like a great lineup — and adding in a Sookie book is never a bad idea!
Glad you’re in this year too Jenn. I keep forgetting to post my booklist. Better do that this weekend.
The read-a-thon sounds like great fun!!!
I’m doing this for the first time this year so I appreciate the advice. I am so looking forward to this!

Ooh! First year! YAY! It will be a blast, I assure you!
That looks like a fun list!
I’m glad you’re joining the read-a-thon again. Your list looks great. I’ve heard good things about many of the books you picked. Good luck and happy reading.
Fun books. Good luck this weekend. I’m getting very excited!

I think not insisting on writing reviews is key! I’ll probably write short reviews, like I did last year.
